Are you attending the 35th Daytime Emmy Awards?
Who from Soap Opera Fan is going to attend the 35th Daytime Emmys? In addition to myself and Lori Wilson, who will be covering the event with Shannon Burrell, Shaun Proulx and Chris Laughter, we hope that some of you will be able to make this glamorous event!
If you belong to certain fan clubs, I hear you can get a deal on tickets. Of course it's from a very good source, and they tell us fans should get their tickets soon. Otherwise, check TicketMaster for tickets to the show, or just show up to the Kodak Theatre, June 20 around 2pm. The stars will be walking the pinkish-red carpet from 3:00pm onward, and you may be able to catch a glimpse of a star.
If you have no plans to attend, no worries! We'll have all the coverage that you'll need to make you feel as though you were there yourself. From various interviews with the soap stars to discussions regarding the soap stars flair for style, we plan to find out the juicy scoop that we feel you'd want to know! You can catch photos and video clips of the red carpet events and our own opinion of all Emmy related events!
Photo: Leann Hunley (Anna) with Thaao Penghlis (Tony/ex-Andre), taken at the 34th Daytime Emmy Awards. As you all know, Tony was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor this year! Very well deserved nomination. Shannon Burrell (reporter) and I had met Leann and Thaao the evening previous and Leann admitted a teensy bit of trepidation over her return to daytime after a 21 year gap! Since our posters had been ecstatic about the 'Anna return', I shared this with her and assured her that "Tony and Anna" fans were eager for her return.
Guess Who is Hosting the 35th Emmys!
All My Children's very own Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) along with The View's Sherri Shepherd, will be this year's host! If you can't make it or crowds aren't your thing, please check in with Soaps.com for live coverage of the event. We're not the only ones that will be there. You can catch SOAPnet's red carpet Emmy morsels, live, and get to take a sneak peek behind the scenes of the Daytime Emmys. I can tell you in advance that it's full of activity and a lot of fun to be backstage at this event. There are a few rooms last year. One was set up for SOAPnet, a large photographer's room was set up with bleachers. We took photos of the winners and sometime their families. There is another press room that is smallish in size, sporting metal chairs, a stage for the winners to come discuss their win, and a television set for us to view the Emmy coverage as we wait for and talk with the winners! We're fed, watered, and excitement is in the air.
SOAPnet Night Before Party!
Speaking of SOAPnet, last year, Shannon Burrell and I covered the 2007 SOAPnet Night Before Party and attended the party afterwards. A great time, I can assure you! This year, Shannon Burrell, Lori Wilson and Shaun Proulx will be covering the event. We will be getting you the scoop from the actor's mouths and getting you some great shots of the soap stars in their party attire.
As seen to your left, Brian Datillo (Lucas) was on hand to crack us up and let us know what he was up to before the party. A few Days partiers were there. Martha Madison (ex-Belle) was gorgeous in a silver dress, Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady) and wife, Arianne Zuker ( Nicole Walker) turned out to party, Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Brady) and her lovely and wonderful publicist, Cindy, showed up, we were happy to see young Christopher Gerse (Will Horton) there and Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady) our lovely jewlery guru, amongst many others. From what I recall, from Passions, we also spoke with Charles Divins (ex-Chad Harris), Adrian Bellani (ex-Miguel-Lopez-Fitzgerald and Christopher Maleki (Spike) were all there, amongst others. While we do want to bring you original scoop to SOF, we hadn't purchased the site at that point and therefore will have to make due with showing you a piece we did on the party on our sister site. Please feel free to read more coverage here!
The Second Annual Sudzies Awards!!
The what?!! Don't worry. I'll explain!
With the 35th Daytime Emmys right around the corner, we thought we'd have a little fun with our readers and give them their own makeshift Emmys on our sister site, Soaps.com. We welcome all Soap Opera Fan readers to hightail it over to Soaps.com and vote in the Sudzies Awards!
What the devil are the Sudzies, you ask? We nominate actors and actresses from all 9 soap operas in several categories such as best actor, most annoying character, and honor the best of daytime, even those characters who work the best at getting on our last nerve! It's all in fun.
Click the link below to vote, not just on DAYS and Passions, but any of your other favorite daytime dramas. This is our second year to bring readers 'The Sudzies'. Your votes will show who the fans truly want to win! Make your votes count, and June 12, we will post a final ballot that everyone can participate in the vote. We'll tabulate all votes and on June 12, 2008, we'll post the Sudzies winners!
How to vote: Simply write the name of the character/actor, along with the show name, in the text box for each question. Click here to vote!!
Stay tuned for more coverage!
