When the disk ended up in his possession he was almost killed by an explosion set up in Mike's lab where the disk was stashed. Harper enlisted the help of Steve Johnson to fake his death, but the blanks in Steve's rifle were replaced with real bullets, and Harper fell into a coma after being shot by Steve.

Harper recovered and hired Kayla Brady to be his son's nurse. Jack had come to town and was sick with Hodgkin's disease. When he and Kayla married Kayla moved into the Devereaux mansion. Meanwhile Harper learned that Jack's true family was looking for him, so to keep his identity a secret he stole the adoption papers from Jo Johnson. When the papers turned up missing he thought Kayla had them so he tried to kill her with poison. Later Melissa Anderson Jannings was arrested and charged with the attempted murder.

When Harper's wife Angelica became pregnant Harper ordered her to have an abortion. Angelica refused, not knowing that Harper was hiding a secret from her. When Jack learned he was adopted Angelica learned that Harper was sterile, so the father of her unborn baby was Justin Kiriakis.

When Kayla recalled the identity of her attacker she rushed to tell her sister Kimberly. Unfortunately Harper took them both hostage and planned to finish the jobs he started on them Harper was eventually stopped by Steve Johnson. Harper was sent to prison, but vowed to get revenge on Steve.

Later that year Victor Kiriakis, with the help of Jack Devereaux, arranged a jail break so that Harper could leave the country. Jack came to Salem in 1987 seeking treatment for his Hodgkin disease. Harper hired Kayla Brady as Jack's nurse, and he soon fell in love with her. Jack proposed to Kayla, who accepted after being rejected by Steve. However Steve kidnapped Kayla from the mansion when he learned Harper was poisoning her because he thought Kayla had learned that Jack was adopted.

Kayla and Steve began to meet behind Jack's back, and when they were exposed in the papers Jack was humiliated. Jack raped Kayla and had Steve beaten up. Steve and Jack faced off on a rooftop and Jack fell off. Jack was rushed to the hospital but required a kidney transplant. His best chance for a successful match was his brother, and Steve agreed to donate the kidney because their mother Jo asked him to.

After Kayla and Steve's secret rendez-vous where exposed by the paper and angry Jack rapped Kayla. After Kayla filed for divorce she pressed rape charges against Jack, who managed to get off because of his high-class connections through Harper. Jack then turned to Melissa Anderson support, not knowing Harper was framing her for trying to kill Kayla.

Jack learned from Melissa that he was adopted. When he confronted Harper he learned that Harper was sterile. Jack felt betrayed by Harper and rejected him.

Jack ran for Harper's chair in the senate, and his opponent was Melissa's adoptive father Mickey. Jack used Melissa against Mickey, and even proposed to her, but when she learned the truth she dumped Jack.

Later that year Jack helped Victor Kiriakis stage a jail break for Harper. Jack was promised a share of Harper's money just as soon as Harper was out of the country. The plan failed, and Harper was shot trying to get to the airport. When Jack took him to the Riverfront Clinic, Harper took Kayla hostage again. Steve managed to save Kayla, and Harper went back to prison.

Jack finally learned that Jo Johnson was his mother and Steve and Adrienne were his siblings. Jack denied the truth at first but eventually warmed up to his family with encouragement from his sister Adrienne. For Christmas Jack, dressed up as Santa Claus, gave Jo a pair of Emerald Earrings and told her he loved her.

In 1989 Jack bought up half of the Spectator to keep a story about him from being run. He soon learned that his partner Diana Coleville was hiding the fact that she was possibly married and used this information to blackmail her into selling him her half of the paper. Diana refused to give in, but when she quickly fled Salem later that year he bought up the paper.

Jennifer Horton began a job at the Spectator as part of her college education. She also befriended a homeless girl named Sally who was pregnant. Sally had been arrested because she didn't want to give birth to her baby on the streets. In an attempt to help Sally Jack and Jen pretended to be married and they provided a home for the baby. Caught up in this fantasy world Jack and Jen fell in love. Emilio eventually returned, and Jack and Emilio were rivals for Jen's heart.

Jack had moved Steve and Kayla's old loft. When he learned that his brother was being blackmailed into helping Marina Toscano find her family fortune the greedy side of him became curios. He went to the mental institution where Isabella was and found that she was quite sane so he broke her out and hid her in his apartment. Isabella then told Jack what her sister was up to and about the treasure. Jack went to his brother Steve's house, and Jennifer followed him. They stumbled upon the key Marina had hidden there and Jack made a duplicate. Jack gave the original key to Isabella, and with the duplicate he headed to Italy and retrieved the Toscano treasure from a cave. Much to Jack's disappointment all he found was a diary of Loretta Toscano. Upon reading the diary he learned a secret that had been hidden all these years. Fearing this secret would be to much for Isabella to handle, Jack removed selected pages and returned her mother's diary to Isabella.

Jack and Jennifer began to fall in love, but when Melissa came home she was determined to put a stop to this love. Melissa pushed her cousin away from Jack and into the arms of Emilio Ramirez. Jennifer and Emilio were set to marry, but Jack wouldn't allow it. Jack kidnapped Jennifer on her wedding day to prevent the marriage from happening.

Still without the diary of his late wife Loretta, Ernesto planned a cruise in which he plotted to pay back all his enemies and recover the diary. Ernesto invited Roman II/John Black, Isabella, Victor Kiriakis, Julie Williams, Jack Devereaux, Jennifer Horton, and Bo and Hope Brady. Onboard the ship, Ernesto was reunited with his daughter Isabella. Their host was a mystery to all but Victor, who knew Ernesto well. Deciding that the truth had to be known, Jack returned the missing pages of Ernesto's diary to Isabella. Isabella learned that she was Victor's child. Isabella told this to her father and then confessed to killing Marina. Ernesto claimed he did not love her any less, but secretly he despised her and felt she truly was the daughter of Kiriakis. Ernesto escaped his ship with Isabella and fled to a nearby Island. There he held Isabella prisoner and slowly poisoned her as he had done to her mother. A bomb exploded aboard the cruise ship and miraculously the passengers found their way to the island. On the island, Jack and Jennifer made love. Roman II/John Black sought to find Isabella because he knew she would be in grave danger. John and Bo set out to search the island and Hope followed Bo against his wishes. John made it to Toscano's house and rescued Isabella. However, Ernesto had captured Hope and was holding her prison. Everyone was lured to a cave where Ernesto held Hope with him in a cage that suspended a vat of acid. Ernesto offered Bo the chance to save Hope if he could convince him that she should be spared. Bo made a moving speech to Hope, but it failed to move Ernesto. Suddenly and explosion occurred which sent the cage crashing down into the vat of acid. Both Ernesto and Hope vanished and were declared dead after hours of searching the island. Shane eventually arrived and everyone was escorted back to Salem.

Jack's adoptive father, Harper Devereaux, escaped from prison and vowed to have his revenge on Steve Johnson. At Steve and Kayla's second wedding, Harper planned to execute Steve from the church bell tower. Jack learned of Harper's plan and stopped him by pushing him to his death from the top of the belltower.

In 1990, Jennifer was reunited with her teenage friend Katerina VonLeuschner, who was now going by the name Carly Manning. Jennifer Horton and Katerina were in boarding school together. Lawrence and Katerina were supposed to meet for the first time when they were teens, but Katerina talked Jennifer Horton into taking her place. When people came to Salem looking for Katerina, Jen stepped in and posed as Katerina again. Jen believed that after the phony marriage occurred, she'd be allowed to go free because all Lawrence wanted was the money. Jennifer, along with Alice who was posing as Cecily Smith, flew to Alamainland. There Jen was to marry Lawrence. Alice attempted to escape and get help, but Lawrence caught her and imprisoned her. Jen and married Lawrence, who knew all along that Jennifer was not Katerina. Lawrence raped Jennifer on their wedding night and held her prisoner. Jack Devereaux came looking for her and ended up being imprisoned in a cell next to Katerina's brother, Francois. However, Francois was really Frankie Brady. Jack and Frankie escaped and managed to find Jen. Frankie had told them that Lawrence was holding him prisoner and was going to trade him to Katerina for the VonLeuschner fortune and Bo Brady. Lawrence's plan failed and he set of an explosion which caused a chain of earthquakes trapping them all underground. Leopold helped them escape, but in the process he had a heart attack and died. Alice Horton suffered a stroke after returning to Salem and required surgery.

Jack had proposed to Jennifer during the cruise of deception and had given her a shell ring he had crafted. After rescuing Jen from Lawrence, Jack was eager to marry Jennifer. Jennifer, however, remained distant from Jack. In an attempt to bring them closer together the two went to Smith Island. When Jack initiated a physical relationship, Jen slapped him and called him a rapist. Jack was devastated and broke it off with Jen, who had not told anyone that Lawrence had raped her.

Jack, desperate to save the Spectator from going under and falling into Lawrence Alamain's hands, married Eve Donovan. Eve had to marry someone to gain the fortune Nick left to her in the will. Later, Eve and Jack's marriage was annulled and Jack returned to Jennifer.

In 1991, Brian Scofield found himself investigating Nick Corelli's murder as well. Brian & Melissa, Eve & Frankie, and Jack & Jen boarded a theme train on which Johnny Corelli had stashed the weapon that was used to kill his brother Nick. When they found the weapon, Johnny Corelli detached the car they were in and it rolled down a mountain pass and derailed into a cold forest. The couples split up and all tried to find their way out of the valley they found themselves trapped in. Eve eventually split away from Frankie and met up with a young woman named Molly Brinker. Molly drew Eve a map and Eve lead the party to a safe location and took the credit on her own. A helicopter retrieved the stranded Salemites, but Eve was seriously injured when she fell from the helicopter ladder. She lived and was treated like a star in Salem until Molly showed up and pushed Eve off of her heroine pedestal.

Jennifer eventually admitted to Jack that Lawrence had raped her. Jack supported Jennifer when she pressed charges against Lawrence. Lawrence claimed that he had suffered blackouts since he was a small child and didn't recall raping Jennifer. However, Kimberly Brady found a secret room in Lawrence's house and found Lawrence privately confessing raping Jennifer on a videotape in the room. Kimberly allowed Jack to find the room and the tape and Lawrence was convicted and sent to prison.

On July 2, 1991, Jack and Jennifer were married in a rowdy wild-west show arena. After the marriage they spent their honeymoon at Universal Studios in Hollywood. There they caught the eye of a con-artist named Hawk Hawkins. Hawk learned that the couple had ample cash and he followed them back to Salem. Hawk, along with his partner Desiree, convinced Jack and Jen that Desiree could tell the future. While Hawk was at their place one day he claimed to have thrown his back out at Jen and Jack's place. Fearing a lawsuit, Jack allowed Hawk to move into their penthouse. Meanwhile, Desiree told Jack that the FBI was coming for him, which caused Jack to go on the run. Hawk then managed to get his hands on Jack's money and forced Jack to flee Salem. While Jack was gone, Jennifer had to use her trust fund to save the Spectator from going under. In the meantime, Hawk contacted Alston Hawkins, his father?, to come to Salem and help him get away with Jack's money. Hawk also planned to take Jennifer with him.

Jack eventually returned to Salem and conned Hawk into admitting he stole their money. Hawk was sent to jail along with his accomplices, but Jack and Jennifer were broke. To make matter worse, Jennifer learned she was pregnant and Jack thought his Hodkins disease had returned. Jack sold the Spectator to Julie Williams in order to provide for Jennifer after his death. Jack was eventually convinced that he wasn't dying. Jen's father, Bill Horton, gave Jack and Jen a house on Coperlantern road and they moved in. On October 19, 1992, Jennifer gave birth to their daughter, Abigail. Jen took a job hosting a talk show with Calliope and Jack worked as a freelance reporter. Later, Jack discovered a journal in the attic of their house and turned it into a novel he decided to publish under a pseudonym.

Jack found the money that Billie Reed had hidden in a barn and he used it to buy the Spectator back. Unfortunately, Billie told him it belonged to a crime boss who was expecting it when he was released from jail. In an attempt to earn the money, Billie posed as the author of the novel Jack had found in the attic of his house. Jack and Billie attempted to get it published, but Kate rejected the novel and refused to let them publish it. She also refused to return the manuscript to Jack. To spite Jack, Kate bought the Spectator and fired Jack.

Jack was furious and wanted revenge against Victor and Kate. Jack's daughter, Abbey, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Jack began investigating Victor, who he was sure was the person who dumped the toxic waste which caused Abbey to become sick. The waste penetrated into the ground water that fed into Jack and Jen's house. When Jack confronted Victor, Jack learned that he was the one who ordered the dumping of the toxic waste in his youth. Back when Jack was a naive politician, Jack had signed numerous papers without even reading them, one of which gave his father, Harper, the permission to dump some toxic chemicals an area aways away from where Jack was currently living. Feeling like a failure, Jack left Jen a note explaining what he had done and he left town. Later, Jack served Jen with divorce papers.

Jack went to a place called "The Meadows" to try and come to terms with his feelings. Jack felt he still had a chance with Jen if he could be more open with her. Jack was using the alias Clarke and he meet a woman named Monica, not knowing that she was really Laura Horton. The two ended up making love and Only when Jack and Laura returned to Salem did they discover the truth. Thing were made uncomfortable when Jack moved back into the house he shared with Jen. Jack still owned half of the house and therefore had a right to live there.

Jack and Laura decided to keep their brief affair a secret, but Laura fell in love with Jack and she hoped that once Jen married Peter then she'd be free to love Jack. Meanwhile, Jen decided to try and find the man her mother fell in love with at the Meadows, not knowing it was Jack.

Peter Blake took Jennifer to his home town of Aremid where he proposed to her. There they learned about the legend of the Woman in White, a ghost who haunted the town. Peter thought it was rubbish, but Jen wasn't sure. Jack showed up in hopes of thwarting Peter somehow and he befriended a young girl, Sarah, who helped her uncle run the local pub and in. Sarah knew much about the Woman in White and she also wanted to help Jack. While staying at the Blake House, Peter and Jen found a portrait a Woman in White who was actually Peter's mother, Rachel. Jen made a fire and fell asleep at the Blake house and the Woman in White closed the flew and filled the house with smoke. Jen was rescued by Peter and Jack, but Sarah said it was the woman in white. Sarah fell in love with Jack and actually dressed up as the woman in white to get close to him, but she was found out by Peter. Peter and Jen both thought Jack was using Sarah to try and break them up. Peter and Jen went back to Salem, but Sarah told Jack that there really was a Woman in White.

Sarah followed Jack to Salem and Peter eventually discovered that Jack was hiding Sarah. Peter also knew that Sarah loved Jack and he told her to go back to Aremid and he wouldn't tell Jack that she loved him. Sarah ran away and ended p at the Blue Moon and was almost forced to strip, but Hope talked her out of it and Jack took her home to Aremid.

Peter and Jennifer returned to Aremid to be married and Jack's last chance to keep Jen from marrying Peter failed when Peter had learned that Jack and Laura had an affair at The Meadows. Laura was upset and Jack went into her room to comfort her, but they soon ended up kissing. Jennifer walked in on them and was horrified. Jack and Laura admitted to their affair at The Meadows. A crushed Jen turned to Peter support and soon married him.

Peter meet with Jude StClair once again in Aremid to give him the deed to the Blue Moon. Jude dropped it near the pavilion where Peter was going to marry Jen. Jack found it and saw Peter's name on it. Suddenly Jude knocked him out, took the deed, and then ran. The pavilion caught fire, but Peter managed to save Jack. Jack was locked in jail accused of arson, but was later released when it was proved to be an accident. While in jail on November 21, 1995, Peter and Jennifer married.

After Peter and Jen's wedding, Tony DiMera was tragically murdered. John Black became the accused and Peter was named the prosecutor. Jack and Jen were convinced of John's innocence and when Jude StClair attacked Hope in Aremid the two thought he may have killed Tony. Jack and Jen returned to Salem and went undercover into the Blue Moon. Just as they were about to find the evidence linking Peter to Jude, a police bust occurred. The evidence was taken to the police station and when it was about to be opened, Peter managed to have it permanently sealed.

When Jude is spotted in Aremid, the search is headed up by Jen and Jack. Jen comes across Jude, who swears he did not kill Tony. Jude captures Jen and holds her hostage in a warehouse. Jack finds Jude later on, but he lets Jude go because Jude tells Jack that only he knows where Jen is and without him, Jen will starve to death. Jen eventually escapes, but before escaping she finds a matchbook that has some numbers written in it. Jen pockets it, not knowing that it is the number of a bank account that Peter has stored some money in for Jude to pick up. Later, Jen gave the matchbook with the bank account numbers to Jack and she learned why Jack let Jude go. Later, Jack learned that the numbers were for a bank account. Jack and Jen traced the bank account to the Cayman Islands and they went there and posed as tellers in training. Peter learned what they were up to and managed to erase his name from the bank account just as Jack saw it coming onto the screen. Peter also turned them in and the bank manager through them out, so they returned to Aremid.

Bo Brady decides to go search for Hope in the mountains of Aremid one last time. Bo takes flight in a helicopter and upon hearing it nearby, Hope starts a fire in the cabin that Jude is holding her in. Bo goes searching for the cabin, but is lost in a snowstorm. Jennifer Blake, Peter Blake, Jack Devereaux, and Mike Horton come looking for Bo and eventually find him. Bo escapes his sickbed and finds Hope, who has escaped from Jude. Jude shows up and shoots Bo, hitting him in the arm. Peter and Jack show up as well and Jack witnesses Peter shoot Jude St. Clair in cold blood. Peter claims he was defending himself and everyone else believes it. They all return to Salem shortly after.

Peter and Jennifer flew to Paris when they learned that Kristen and Rachel were caught in an explosion.Jack came to Paris as well, hoping to help his friends and find dirt on Peter. Jack and Jen decided to try and find Stefano's lair in the underground. Jack found some books with Peter's name in them, but at the same time Peter set off charges to destroy what was left of the tunnels. Jack and Jen were caught in the explosion, but managed to escape. Jack learned that Daniel Scott is also in Paris and lures him into a high-priced poker game. When Daniel couldn't pay his debt, Jack paid it for him in order for the goods on Peter. Daniel confessed everything and Jack told Jen the truth about Peter. Jen didn't believe Jack, but Laura came forward with what she knew about Peter as well. Jack, Peter, Jen, and Laura all returned to Salem after the Paris ordeal ended.

Peter brought Daniel Scott to Salem and had him tell Jenifer that Jack made up all the lies about Peter and he was forced to go along with Jack because he needed the money. Later, Jen sees Peter talking with Daniel in Salem Place. Jen attempts to get the truth out of Daniel, but he won't talk. Jen tells Daniel that she already knows everything and was just testing him. Daniel believes Jen and tells her everything, including how they gaslighted Laura. Jen returns home and kicks Peter out of her house. Jack planned to leave Salem, but he felt that Jen and Abbey were in danger from Peter. Jack did some investigating and learned that Peter was planning to kidnap Jen. Jack attempted to get the police department's help, but they were unable to do anything. After purchasing gun, Jack headed over to Jen's place. Upon arriving, Jack found Peter creeping up the stairs with a syringe in his hand. The two fought and Jack's gun went off. Peter was rushed to the hospital, but died later on. Jack was arrested for his murder and Jen bailed him out.

Jack went to trial for Peter's murder and thanks to Stefano's blackmailing of the judge, Jack was sentenced to life in prison. In prison, Jack became cell mates with a man named Travis Maloy. Travis was actually working for Stefano and he was to try and convince Jen to find a new husband and father for Abbey. Travis transferred out of the prison and ended up living next door to Jen as Trent Davis.

Because Laura's ramblings about Peter appeared to be true, Jen feared that Peter may come after her again and she asked her neighbor Trent to install and alarm for her. Trent did so, but he also knew how to bypass the alarm and break in. Jack's retrial began and everyone had renewed faith that Jack would be set free because Peter was alive. Kristen DiMera agreed to admit that Peter was alive, but she lied on the stand after she saw Stefano staring at her. Jack was sent back to prison because there was no way to prove that Peter was alive.

Jennifer decided to apply for a job at the prison Jack was in and used Hope Brady's credentials to get the job. Jack tried to talk Jen out of the job, but she was determined to help him write and expose on the prison system. While in prison, T.C., a crooked guard assigned to watch Jack, takes a liking to Jen. Jen broke into the warden's office to try and get a computer password for Jack and she was caught by T.C. T.C. attempted to rape Jen, but Jack saved her when he convinced another prison guard to take him to the warden's office. T.C. payed Jack back later by beating him up in his own cell, unaware that Jen was hiding under Jack's cot because she hadn't gotten out before lockdown. Later, Travis/Trent and T.C. searched Jen's house and learned that she was posing as a guard at the prison. Jen was fired and as a result, all of Jack's visitation and phone calls were limited to his lawyer, Mickey.

Stefano announced that he wanted to become a respected citizen of Salem, secretly it was all a part of his master plan. Jennifer confronted Stefano and told him that he would need the Hortons to back him if he wanted to become a respected citizen of Salem. Jennifer warned him that if any harm came to Jack then he would not have the Hortons' backing. Stefano called T.C. and told him not to harm Jack Devereaux. Unfortunately, Travis and T.C. had pinned Jack under a press, which would smash his head flat. Luckily, T.C. and Travis stopped the press in time before it killed Jack. Jack realized that someone wanted him alive and realized that T.C. must be on Peter or Stefano's payroll.

Jennifer had gotten the password for the warden's computer, but was unable to give it to him before she was fired. However, Jack's new cellmate, Herby, had a girlfriend on the outside that got the password to Jack. Upon using the password, Jack learned that his old cellmate, Travis, was really Trent Davis, Jen's next door neighbor. By the time Jack could get word to Mickey, Trent had already kidnapped Jen.

Trent held Jen hostage in a seedy motel and told her that Peter was coming to get her and was going to pay him a lot of money. Upon hearing that Jen had been kidnapped, Jack broke out of prison with the help of his cellmate, Herby. Jack learned that Trent was taking Jen to the Grand Canyon and headed there.

Trent and Jen made it to the Grand Canyon and Trent held her hostage in his families cabin. There, Jen learned that Trent brutally murdered his won parents. Meanwhile, Jack also made his way to the Grand Canyon and had to punch out a Park Ranger, who was notified that Jack may show up. Jack climbed the cliff to Trent's cabin and when Jack and Trent fought, Trent fell off the cliff to his death. Jack and Jen returned to Salem, as did Peter. Jack and Jen spent Christmas with their family, but Jack decided to sneak away and try to catch Peter. Laura provided Jack with a car and he took off, and Peter followed him. Unfortunately, Jen and Abbey stowed away in the car with Jack.

Jack, Jen, and Abbey went on the run and ended up in a seedy motel. Peter was hot on their trail and also ended up in the same hotel. Peter tipped the FBI off to Jack's whereabouts, but Jack managed to escape. However, Peter was found by the FBI. Peter attacked an agent during a Jungle Madness attack and ran off. Jack and Jen ended up joining the Ward's World Famous Circus, owned by Jasper Ward. Jack confessed his problems to Jasper, who understood and still gave Jack a job as an animal keeper. Jen got in on the act and replaced the woman who Ernesto threw daggers at. Even Abbey joined the circus as a clown.

Peter returned to the DiMera Mansion and Stefano helped him try to locate Jen and get a cure for his jungle madness. Stefano came up with the idea of planting a listening device on Laura, who they suspected knew where Jack and Jen were. Laura Horton, Maggie Horton, and Celeste Perrault all went to the Salem Spa for some relaxation. Peter disguised himself as a masseuse and planed to plant the device on Laura, but almost killed her during another Jungle Madness attack. Later, Laura set a trap for Peter by inadvertently hinting that Jack and Jen were in Dayton, Ohio. Kristen overheard Laura, who told Peter. Peter raced to Dayton, Ohio, as did the police who Laura tipped off. Unfortunately, the circus Jack and Jen were hiding in was in Dayton, Ohio. Jasper covered for Jack and Jen and Peter returned home when Stefano warned him the entire thing was a trap set by Laura.

The circus Jack and Jen were hiding out in was on the verge of going broke. Jack convinces Jaspar Ward to take the circus to Salem, Jack had a plan to trap Jennifer. Upon arriving in Salem, Jack sent Hope some tickets and asked her to come to the circus. However, Peter followed Hope and attacked her, but she was saved by Bo. Peter tipped the FBI off to where Jack was hiding and he was arrested. Peter kidnapped Jen, but also attacked her and knocked her unconscious. When Jen came too she fled. Jen hoped in Jasper's car and took off and Peter followed her. Jen's car eventually went off the road and exploded. Peter stopped at a phone booth and found Jasper Ward calling the police to report news about Jennifer, but Peter attacked him and put him in a coma.

Jack was placed back in prison and Laura came to see him. Earlier, Laura confronted Kristen and vowed to find Peter and make them both pay. After leaving, Laura realized she had lost her prescription of Placiden, unaware that Kristen had found it. Laura told Jack that she had bought a gun and was going to take care of the DiMera. Later, Abe came to see Jack to tell him that a woman's body was found in the car Jen was driving. Jack refused to believe it was Jen, until they showed him a necklace Peter had bought for her that was found in the wreckage. The necklace had an inscription from Peter to Jen. Jack and the rest of Salem were forced to admit that Jen was dead.

Jack was let out of jail to attend Jen's funeral. Laura slipped out of the church to find Kristen and make her pay. Peter showed up with a shotgun and started shooting. Suddenly, Jen's spirit rose from her coffin. Jen convinced Peter to turn himself in. Jack was released from prison immediately. Jack and Abbey returned home to find Jen standing in their home. Jen explained that her death and her resurrection were faked by the people at the circus. Jen told him that Jasper was supposed to tell them all, but Jen wasn't aware that Jasper was in a coma. Jack, Jen, and Abbey all went to the Brady Pub and they celebrated the fact that Jen was alive. Later, Jasper came out of his coma.

Peter was taken to jail and Stefano gave him the cure for his jungle madness. Peter asked Stefano if he was going to break him out, but Stefano told him that he couldn't do that because it would ruin his new reputation as an upstanding citizen of Salem. However, Stefano did manage to get Peter placed in a white-collar- crime prison instead and he would be up for parole in a few years.

Jack, Jen, and Abbey all left Salem in June of 1998 for a vacation in Africa.
