Craig was Tony's father and Marie's father-in-law-to-be, when Tony up and abandoned Marie on their wedding night. Craig was there to comfort Marie and help her back into her life after she tried to commit suicide. In time their friendship turned to love and they were married. Soon Marie became pregnant with his child, but ended up miscarrying it. Craig and Marie got through the crises, but when Tony came back and explained to his father why he left Marie, Craig divorced Marie telling her he never loved her and then took a job flying planes in Asia.
Tony was engaged to marry Marie Horton, but when he learned he had a fatal blood disease he ran off the night before their wedding. When he returned home, miraculously cured, he discovered that the woman he loved had married his father. After his father sacrificed his own happiness for his son and left Marie, Tony tried to resume a relationship with her but Marie had changed from the girl he knew and he gave up on perusing a relationship with her and left Salem in the spring of 67.
